Dunblane Recognised as Scotland's "friendliest town"

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the article published in the Daily Record on 16 October 2025, which recognises Dunblane as Scotland’s “friendliest town”; notes that the feature highlights the town’s scenic walks, rich heritage and inviting hospitality, with special mentions for Dunblane Museum, the Dunblane Heritage Walk and the David Stirling Memorial; further notes the praise given to local venues, including the Tappit Hen, Riverside and Beech Tree Café, as well as the Kailyard by Nick Nairn; recognises the article’s focus on accommodation such as The Old Mill, Jacobite’s Rest, the DoubleTree by Hilton Dunblane, Westlands Hotel and Andy Murray’s Cromlix Hotel; acknowledges that Dunblane offers even more attractions than those listed, including the historic Leighton Library and the iconic Dunblane Cathedral; recognises the town’s vibrant community hubs, including The Bank, the Victoria Hall, the Dunblane Centre and the Braeport Centre; commends the town’s strong sense of community, including initiatives such as Dementia Friendly Dunblane and organisations such as the Dunblane Community Council and the Dunblane Development Trust, which contribute to inclusivity and local wellbeing, and agrees that Dunblane is rightly described as one of Scotland’s friendliest and most welcoming destinations.
