Congratulating Mogerleys Butchers in Dumfries

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Mogerleys Butchers in Dumfries on winning the Speciality Meat Pie category at the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards 2025; notes that butcher Daniel West created the award-winning chicken, ham and asparagus tart, inspired by a dish he once enjoyed in a restaurant; recognises that this is the shop’s first national award; welcomes the judges’ praise for the pie’s balance of flavours; acknowledges that Daniel continues the legacy of his grandfather and uncle at the Friars Vennel shop; recognises what it sees as the important role that independent butchers play in supporting local food production, sustaining traditional skills and providing high-quality produce to communities, and wishes Mogerleys continued success in showcasing Dumfries and its quality produce.
