The motion

That the Parliament congratulates RSABI following the launch of a new initiative, Ploughing On, to celebrate older people in Scottish agriculture; acknowledges that this latest venture is backed by key industry organisations and that the campaign aims to highlight the dedication of senior farmers and crofters, especially during the challenging winter months; notes that with growing concerns surrounding isolation and proposed inheritance tax changes, the non-profit organisation based at Ingliston, Edinburgh, aims to provide an uplift to older members of the farming community by sharing their stories, rekindling friendships and encouraging community support, including festive lunches, video tributes showcasing lifelong contributions to farming, certificates of recognition for exceptional service and encouraging people to reach out to older individuals with simple acts of kindness; accepts that RSABI also provides practical, emotional and financial support to all people involved in the Scottish farming fraternity by providing a range of services, including counselling and one-off payments for essential items such as household items; understands that it offers what it sees as welcome support to people of all ages, including those affected by illness, accident, bereavement and those struggling with their mental wellbeing, and wishes RSABI continued success as it provides a welcome platform to many in need of support.
