Lodged by Thomas Kerr (Reform UK ) Standard Motion 15 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament believes that access to social housing should give appropriate priority to those with a clear and established local connection to the communities in which they are applying, recognising that such criteria previously formed part of allocation policies; notes that Scotland is experiencing a housing crisis; calls on the Scottish Government to reintroduce local connection criteria for social housing allocation in order to ensure that greater priority is given to people and families who live locally; notes the reported proposals made by the leader of Reform UK regarding large-scale deportation measures for those residing illegally in the UK, and further notes the view that strict immigration enforcement is necessary to maintain public confidence in the immigration system and to reduce pressure on public services.
