Congratulating Derek Smart of Montrose RNLI on his Retirement After 27 Years of Service
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Derek Smart on his retirement after 27 years of dedicated volunteering with Montrose RNLI; understands that since joining in 1993, Derek has served as operational crew, including roles as 2nd Coxswain and Helm, before becoming lifeboat operations manager in 2019; praises his calm leadership and bravery during notable rescues, such as the grounding of the Schelde 12 in 1997, and during Storm Arwen in 2021; thanks Derek for his exceptional commitment to saving lives at sea and supporting the local community, and wishes him a long and happy retirement.
