Born in the Borders, Little Waves Inclusive Childrenswear Collection

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Farah Conn, a final-year fashion technology student at Heriot-Watt University’s School of Textiles and Design in Galashiels, on the development of Little Waves, an innovative childrenswear collection designed to support autistic children through inclusive, research-led fashion design; recognises that the collection incorporates sensory-supportive features, including ultra-soft fabrics, flattened seams, label-free garments, integrated fidget elements and interchangeable sensory patches to help promote comfort, independence and emotional wellbeing; understands that the project was developed through engagement with parents, carers and professionals who support autistic children; commends the commitment shown by Farah Conn and Heriot-Watt University in using design and technology to address real-world challenges faced by children and families; welcomes efforts to encourage greater accessibility and inclusivity within the fashion industry; recognises the importance of research-led innovation in supporting neurodivergent young people, and wishes Farah Conn every success in developing the Little Waves concept further following her graduation.
