The Owl and Pussycat Nursery, Irvine, Praised Following Inspection
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates everyone at the Owl and Pussycat Nursery in Irvine on the positive findings of its recent inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education in Scotland; notes that inspectors highlighted the nursery’s stimulating, high-quality learning environment and engaging resources, which support children to develop strong curiosity and imagination; understands that the setting was commended for its embedded “family” ethos, with very strong relationships between staff, children and families helping to create a safe and nurturing environment where children feel confident; recognises that high-quality interactions between staff and children were found to deepen learning, alongside very effective approaches to planning that involve children in shaping their own learning; notes that the nursery received evaluations of “very good” for learning, teaching and assessment, as well as for wellbeing, inclusion and equality, and “good” for its curriculum; believes that such strengths underline the importance of high-quality early years education, and wishes all staff and pupils at the Owl and Pussycat Nursery every success in continuing to build on this strong foundation.
