The motion

That the Parliament celebrates Museums Galleries Scotland's recognition of the Linoleum Collection in Kirkcaldy as a Nationally Significant Collection, commemorating the distinctive heritage of linoleum to the local community in Fife; understands that the linoleum industry has been a central part of Kirkcaldy’s economy for over a century, with many generations of workers employed by Nairn’s, which was once the area’s largest employer; believes that this recognition will help raise the profile of the gallery for both local people and visitors, encouraging more people to learn about this important part of Fife’s heritage and culture, with the gallery featuring films, hands-on exhibitions, archives and family history rooms that emphasise this connection; understands that Kirkcaldy remains the only town in the UK still producing this material, and commends Museums Galleries Scotland on its decision to celebrate this unique part of Fife’s industrial heritage.
