European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill

Lord Hain moved amendment 4, in clause 1, page 1, line 3, at end to insert: “( ) Before a notification can be given under subsection (1), the Prime Minister must give an undertaking to negotiate under the process set out in Article 50 on the basis of the United Kingdom retaining membership of the European Single Market.” The Committee divided:
