Baroness Deech’s amendment 1 to the motion in the name of Baroness Smith of Basildon
Baroness Deech moved, as an amendment to the motion in the name of Baroness Smith of Basildon, to leave out from “move” to the end and insert “notwithstanding the resolution of the House of 28 January that Her Majesty’s Government should provide sufficient time for this House to ensure the timely passage of legislation necessary to implement any deal or proposition that has commanded the support of the majority of the House of Commons, considers that a guillotine motion is entirely contrary to the spirit and practice of the House of Lords” The House divided:
The Not Contents have it
Majority 145
At a glance The Not Contents won by a margin of 145 votes. The Government's position was Not Content, and it lost. This was not a whipped vote, so no party line applied.

Peers attend divisions ad hoc, so there is no did-not-vote list. Tellers are counted in the Content and Not Content totals, unlike in the Commons.
Tellers: Lord Hamilton of Epsom (Content), Lord Howard of Rising (Content), Lord McAvoy (Not Content), Lord Tunnicliffe (Not Content).
