BBC ALBA on Freeview and Cable

That the Parliament welcomes the launch on Freeview and Virgin Media of BBC ALBA, making the Gaelic television channel available on all digital television platforms and accessible to all households in Scotland including the 60% previously excluded from receiving the service; applauds the BBC Trust’s decision to license BBC ALBA for broadcast on Freeview following its positive review of the channel’s performance; congratulates MG ALBA, the BBC and the independent production companies on the success of  BBC ALBA; considers that the Gaelic television production and broadcasting industry is of substantial benefit to the Scottish economy, and notes with thanks the support given to BBC ALBA by the Scottish Government, the UK Government, politicians from all parties, public bodies, voluntary organisations and individual television viewers across the United Kingdom.
