Lodged by Mr John McAllion Members' Business Motion 19 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes that, following the publication of the Cullen Inquiry into the Piper Alpha Disaster, the Crown Office decided not to prosecute the Occidental Oil Company; congratulates Mr Gavin Cleland for his unceasing campaign to hold successive Lord Advocates to account for this decision, and believes that the relationship between the Parliament and the Crown Office requires further consideration in the light of decisions on the prosecution of companies over breaches of health and safety legislation.
