International Self-Injury Awareness Day - 1 March 2005

The motion

That the Parliament supports International Self-Injury Awareness Day on 1 March 2005; recognises that over 160,000 people in the United Kingdom have been recognised as suffering from this and that many more cases remain unknown; calls for greater awareness of this form of mental health problem, particularly in young people, and further calls for research to be conducted on quantifying the problem in Scotland and the development of guidelines for all health professionals, social workers, teachers and families on early recognition of the condition.
