Proposed Closure of Carrongrove Paper Mill
The motion
That the Parliament condemns the announcement by Inveresk PLC of the proposed closure of Carrongrove paper mill in Denny, where 150 workers are employed; recognises the high quality of the products and workforce at Carrongrove, which last year generated sales revenue of £26.2 million and operating profits of £1.62 million; recalls that a significant amount of public money has been invested in the Carrongrove mill, and believes that the Scottish Executive should contact the company and trade union representatives of the workforce to explore every possible alternative to closure and to offer the workforce all possible assistance and advice.
