Forth Crowned South Regional Winner of the Scottish Calor Village of the Year 2009

That the Parliament congratulates the village of Forth on being named South Regional Winner of the Scottish Calor Village of the Year 2009; notes that the awards, run by Calor Gas Ltd with support from the Association of Scottish Community Councils (ASCC) and the rural team of the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), allow Scotland’s rural communities to promote their success and achievements, share best community practice and demonstrate initiatives towards sustainability; welcomes the award of £2000 prize money to the village of Forth to be used for further community investment; further notes the comments of Calor Gas managing director Stephen Rennie recognising the effort made by the local community in the regeneration of its community park and gardens, as well as its ability to get the whole community involved across generations from young to elderly; wishes the community of Forth further success in the future, and further congratulates the Isle of Eigg and Arrocher and Tarbet for their success in the northern and central regions respectively.
