Congratulations Awaz FM
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the 50 volunteers at Awaz FM, whose ages range from 11 to 65, on receiving the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service; notes that this award is recognised as the MBE for volunteer groups; further notes that Awaz was one of the first community radio stations in the United Kingdom to win a broadcasting licence; recognises that the station serves Glasgow’s Asian and African community in delivering entertainment, community information and news in Urdu, Punjabi, Hindi, Swahili and English; commends the work that has been done to attract more than 200,000 listeners per week, and wishes all the staff and volunteers at Awaz FM every success for the future.
