Edinburgh Airport Million-passenger Month
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Edinburgh Airport on achieving another milestone in growth with July 2013 being its first million-passenger month; understands that it is the sixth largest airport in the UK, employs over 5,000 members of staff and hosts more than 40 airlines serving over 100 destinations; believes that this figure, which contributes significantly to Scotland's economy, is set to increase as international connections develop; understands that 9.2 million passengers per year pass through the airport and that the millionth passengers in July were the Russell family, from Fetterangus near Aberdeen, who were flying from the capital to Paris; believes that, in July alone, airlines, handling agents and retail partners processed an average of 32,000 passengers per day, and notes that the final figures for the month will be announced in August.
