Scotland's Nurses

Lodged by Duncan McNeil Standard Motion 18 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament notes the findings of the Royal College of Nursing's latest employment survey for Scotland; welcomes what it considers the commitment of Scotland's nurses and the entire nursing team to delivering high quality patient care but recognises their concern that pressures at work mean that many cannot deliver the standard of care that they want; recognises that it is not sustainable to rely on the goodwill of nurses to work additional hours for free to keep services going, and calls on the NHS, other healthcare employers and the Scottish Government to ensure that Scotland has the right number of appropriately skilled nurses working in the right places so that patients have access to the best care possible.
