Trans Justice Conference
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Transgender Alliance on holding the UK’s first trans justice conference and on putting together what it considers to be a comprehensive programme of workshops and speakers including the Lord Advocate and representatives of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, Police Scotland and the Equality and Human Rights Commission; welcomes what it considers this important opportunity to bring together over 100 trans people and representatives of Scotland’s justice system; recognises the potential for trans people to gain a greater understanding of their rights and for justice representatives to more fully appreciate the barriers that trans people face in seeking access to justice, and recognises the potential for the conference to find ways in which to improve trans equality across the various parts of Scotland’s justice system.
