Dumfries and Galloway, Destination of the Year 2014
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates all the winners in the 2014 Scottish National Hotel Awards; notes that Dumfries and Galloway collected the accolade of Destination of the Year and congratulates all those involved from the region who helped claim this prize; considers that Dumfries and Galloway is a hidden gem in Scotland's tourism crown having some of the country's most breathtaking scenery, a rich variety of culture and the creative arts, a diversity of activities for all ages, fascinating history as the cradle of Christianity in Scotland, as well as world-class local food and drink produce and high quality places to stay, and urges those who have yet to discover Dumfries and Galloway to do so in this year of homecoming.
