Dr John Scally Appointed as New National Librarian
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the National Library of Scotland’s announcement that Dr John Scally has been appointed as its new Chief Executive and National Librarian; understands that Dr Scally started his library career as a curator at the National Library in 1993 before taking up other successful roles at the University of Edinburgh; considers that Dr Scally is a leading library professional who will bring extensive experience and enthusiasm to this position and that, under his leadership, the library will continue to respond to the opportunities offered by the digital era, and wishes him all the best in his new role.
