Transport Awards Victory for Glasgow City Council
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Glasgow City Council on winning the Excellence in Cycling and Walking prize at the Transport Awards, which were presented on 2 October 2014; understands that this is the second award in four months that the council has won for its achievements in cycling and sustainable transport; notes that it was the only one of Scotland's local authorities to win an award; understands that the completion of the so-called Bridge to Nowhere at Anderston, the increased number of people cycling and the reduction in accidents among cyclists were highlighted as reasons for Glasgow’s success, and hopes that more Glaswegians are encouraged to choose active travel.
