The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Equality Network and the Scottish Transgender Alliance on holding the UK’s first Trans and Intersex Conference of the Isles in Edinburgh from 31 October to 2 November 2014, generously supported by VisitScotland; welcomes that the conference will bring together over 150 trans and intersex activists from across the UK and Ireland to address priority issues such as access to consensual and non-stigmatising medical treatment, and legal equality; recognises what it considers the valuable learning opportunity that the conference will provide to the participating public bodies, including Police Scotland, NHS Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and the Employment Tribunal Service Scotland; welcomes the potential for the conference to bring trans people and intersex people together to share knowledge and build collaboration, and urges the Scottish Government to carefully consider any recommendations arising from the conference.
