Completion of the Kilbryde Hospice

The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the successful completion of the new Kilbryde Hospice building at Hairmyres in East Kilbride; notes that the new building will house South Lanarkshire’s first ever inpatient hospice and that the Day Hospice Drop-in Centre, currently located at the Red Deer Centre in East Kilbride, will be relocated to the new hospice building; understands that the new hospice building will allow Kilbryde Hospice to enhance and expand the services that it provides to people in South Lanarkshire who are affected by life-limiting and end-of-life illnesses and to their carers and families; recognises the generosity of all those who have donated to the Kilbryde Hospice Appeal since it was launched by the late Tony McGuinness in 2001 to address the shortage of palliative care beds in South Lanarkshire, and congratulates the directors, staff, volunteers and supporters of the hospice for turning the vision of a state-of-the-art hospice for South Lanarkshire into a reality.
