Congratulations to Scottish Health Awards Winners 2014

That the Parliament commends the Scottish Health Awards 2014, which marked the achievements of healthcare staff across Scotland; congratulates everyone who received an award in one of the 16 categories; congratulates Babs McCool from NHS Forth Valley on winning the Support Workers Award, NHS Education for Scotland’s National Early Warning Score (NEWS) Sepsis Screening Tool, the Scottish Patient Safety Programme and Healthcare Improvement Scotland on winning the Innovation Award, Isobel, Betty and Margaret, the Take Three Girls from Fife’s Victoria Hospice, on winning the Volunteers Award, Geraldine Butcher from Ayrshire Maternity Unit on winning the Services to Women and Children Award, Lorna Grant, psychological therapist at St John’s Hospital’s Regional Eating Disorders Unit, on winning the Therapist Award, Rhona Guild and the Primary Care Team at Angus CHP on winning the Care for Long-Term Illness Award, Jennifer Taggart, occupational therapist at Gartnavel General Hospital, on winning the Quality Champion of the Year Award, Margaret Sloan from Drumhar Health Centre, NHS Tayside, on winning the Unsung Hero Award, Tracy McConnell, nursing assistant in the Regional Eating Disorders Unit, St John’s Hospital, on winning the Care for Mental Health Award, John Miller, occupational health adviser with EDF Energy Ayrshire, on winning the Health in the Workplace Award, the Frail Older Person’s Pathway Team at Crosshouse Hospital, on winning the Integrated Care for Older People Award, Catherine Mondoa from the Health Hearts Club and Cardiac Rehabilitation, Forth Valley Royal Hospital, on winning the Healthier Lifestyle Award, Jane Davidson, the chief operating officer for NHS Borders, on winning the Leading and Managing for Quality Award, Pauline Cameron, staff nurse/training officer at NHS Tayside’s Dementia Services Development Centre, on winning the Nurse Award, Doctor Derek King, consultant haematologist/oncologist at Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, on winning the Doctor Award and Ana Talbot and the Medicine for the Elderly team at Monklands Hospital on winning the Top Team Award; considers that all runners-up and nominees are winners in their own right and that the annual Scottish Health Awards is worthy recognition of the hard work and excellence in Scotland’s NHS; thanks the Daily Record and the event’s other sponsors, and the compere, Fred MacAulay, for creating what it considers a memorable evening, and looks forward to the Scottish Health Awards 2015.
