Fifth Scullion Law Interschool Debating Cup
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Scullion Law in Hamilton on hosting the fifth Scullion Law Interschool Debating Cup; notes that the cup brings together schools from across Lanarkshire to participate in a debating competition and understands that the cup is held in conjunction with North and South Lanarkshire councils; considers debating to be an excellent way of helping young people to gain confidence and understand issues; further notes the contribution of representatives from Glasgow University Debating Union in helping to judge the competition; congratulates all the participants and particularly Holy Cross High School in Hamilton on winning the debating cup; understands that Scullion Law has offered past participants the chance to join its staff at Hamilton Sheriff Court to witness the workings of the court; believes that the firm also regularly offers work experience opportunities for local young people; considers the debating cup to be an excellent example of public and private sector working together for the benefit of young people, and hopes that the event will continue for many years to come.
