Tackling Poverty Commission Report Launched in Renfrewshire
The motion
That the Parliament notes the launch of the report of the Tackling Poverty Commission in Renfrewshire; understands that one in five, or 7,000, children live in poverty in Renfrewshire and that it has the third highest number of benefit sanctions and third busiest foodbank in Scotland; considers the commission's report to be a statement of ambition for the council and its community planning partners, who are both working to prevent people from moving into poverty and taking action to try to lift people out of poverty; congratulates Renfrewshire Council on its initiative and efforts to tackle poverty, and believes that the Scottish Government should work with Renfrewshire Council and its community planning partners to take a coordinated, strategic approach to reducing child poverty across the area.
