Support for Carers this Carers' Week
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Carers’ Week 2015 and its focus on building carer-friendly communities; recognises what it considers the huge contribution that carers make to society and understands that, without their work, Scotland’s health and social care services could not cope; supports the call for the removal of obstacles for those providing unpaid care to ensure that their lives are made a little easier where possible; believes that more needs to be done to support carers, and calls on the Scottish Government to develop a carers’ passport scheme to inform carers of their rights in the NHS and across local authority services.
