Cost of Living in Dumfries and Galloway
The motion
That the Parliament commends the work done by staff and volunteers of the Dumfries and Galloway Citizen’s Advice Bureau on the cost of living across the region; notes that the investigators recorded the cost of a predetermined "shopping trolley" of necessary goods over the course of one week by visiting 38 supermarkets, minimarkets and village shops, and is concerned that the cost of these items ranged from £9.95 in Annan to £22.26 in Sanquhar and, in particular, that the most expensive goods were on sale in the most income-deprived areas of the region.
