Award for North Coast Route 500
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes Scotland’s "Route 66" North Coast 500 being named as one of the top six roads in the world by TravelNow magazine; sees this as an impressive feat considering that the idea of promoting the route as North Coast 500 by North Highland Initiative was only mooted earlier in 2015; considers that the route that passes through Ross-shire, Sutherland and Caithness possesses a multitude of iconic vistas as well as a rich, varied and ultimately fascinating history and culture; contends that this accolade is a recognition of all that it has to offer, and hopes that the promotion of the route will attract more visitors to this part of Scotland.
