Work Begins on the Cupar Community Sports Hub

That the Parliament welcomes the beginning of the first phase of work on the Cupar community sports hub; understands that the first sod for what it considers this ambitious project was cut at Duffus Park in the town by youth players from The Howe of Fife Rugby Club, following the raising of £1.2 million; believes that there is a need in Cupar and across north east Fife for access to better, modern sporting facilities; understands that the new development will have a café, meeting rooms, self-contained changing rooms, medical and physiotherapy facilities and a community recreation area; believes that community groups and sports clubs will have access to the facilities and hopes that the project will help to encourage more young people in the town and the surrounding area to take up sport; welcomes in particular the plans to encourage more girls to take up sport, which it believes will be helped by the provision of modern changing facilities; looks forward to the building work being completed; praises the contributions by Fife Council and the Scottish Government through sportscotland, and, in particular, commends what it considers to be the impressive fundraising at a community level, especially by The Howe of Fife Rugby Club.
