Tackling Fuel Poverty
The motion
That the Parliament notes with concern the recent announcement by the Scottish Fuel Poverty Forum that, due to changes to initiatives at a UK level, it will be harder to achieve progress and tackle fuel poverty in Scotland; understands that this will be more pronounced in rural areas and will arise despite there having been an increase in spending by the Scottish Government on energy efficiency programmes; believes that the forum supports a full implementation of the Smith Commission's recommendation on the devolution of responsibility for spending Scotland’s share of Energy Company Obligation energy efficiency funds, and hopes that the Scottish Government will be given the powers to tackle fuel poverty across Scotland.
