The motion

That the Parliament congratulates Barbara Conboy on receiving Edinburgh’s Inspiring Volunteer Award; commends Barbara on what it considers her tireless work in helping others; understands that Barbara is a leading member and treasurer of her local Society of St Vincent de Paul, which aims to use church funds to care for poor people; understands that Barbara has given huge support to a recently bereaved and older member of her local congregation, helping him at a time of real need; further understands that Barbara has done additional work around hosting and welcoming students from abroad and supporting Theatre Alba; commends Barbara for her work in volunteering as a Eucharistic Minister in her local parish, where she takes communion to the homes of people who are unable to attend Mass; considers that the awards, which are now in their ninth year, reflect the exceptional range of organisations and people working in Edinburgh’s vibrant charity and non-profit sectors, and welcomes that the awardees come from a wide age range and from across the broad spectrum of cultures that make Edinburgh such a diverse city.
