The motion

That the Parliament recognises that National Adoption Week 2015 ran from 19 to 25 October; understands that its theme, Too Old at 4, aimed to draw attention to the reports that the children waiting longest for adoptive families have an average age of four; believes that older children waiting to be adopted are often likely to be in sibling groups or to have additional needs and there is a shortage of adoptive parents coming forward for these children; notes that the campaign also asked adopted people who are now over 18 and people who have adopted to come forward and help out; believes that 14 regional adoption agencies have been set up that aim to help place children quicker than ever into stable, loving homes where they can thrive, and encourages everyone to visit the official website to learn more about adoption and to find out how to help.
