Young Start Funding for Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre on receiving a £47,444 grant from the Big Lottery Fund’s Young Start programme; notes that Toonspeak is based in the parliamentary constituency of Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn and runs activities in communities across Glasgow; considers that Young Start aims to give young people the best possible start in life and that this funding will allow Toonspeak to run a creative learning programme for 250 young people over the next two years; understands that this programme will use theatre as a base to teach young people transferable skills, as well as encouraging them to think about a future career path; considers that this creative learning programme could give young people in Glasgow many great benefits, and looks forward to many more performances and activities in the future.
