First National Lorry Week
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the first National Lorry Week, from 26 to 31 October 2015 across Scotland; notes that the aim of National Lorry Week is to raise the profile of the haulage industry, both as an essential service provider and as an excellent career opportunity; understands that, along with the Love the Lorry-themed event at Pittodrie in Aberdeen, there have been similar events at Inverness, Livingston, Oban, Falkirk, North Berwick and Dumfries; welcomes the enthusiasm of school pupils learning more about the haulage industry; considers this series of events as a great way to address the current shortage of haulage drivers, and thanks the Road Haulage Association for bringing this to the attention of the people of Scotland and promoting the industry with this national awareness scheme.
