Official Opening of Newmains Community Trust Centre

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the NCT Centre on its long-awaited opening day, which is to be held on 19 November 2015; applauds all those involved in the creation of the community hub, which hosts Newmains Library, meeting rooms, youth break-out rooms, North Lanarkshire Council Housing Office and the community café; notes the role of the trust, established in 2011, which is made up of a small number of dedicated volunteers involved in the regeneration of Newmains and in making it a better place in which to live and work; understands that, as part of the trusts’ aims to rejuvenate Newmains, a number of activities will be held in the centre, including youth activities, older people's activities, a photography and heritage group and a knit and natter group, all of which are designed to bring the community together; believes that an opening event will see a range of activities, including apple tree planting, a health and wellbeing market day drop-in and sport and recreation taster activities leading up to the opening day, and wishes the trust well in achieving its objectives.
