SGF Food Aid
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Grocers’ Federation (SGF) initiative, SGF Food Aid; understands that this pilot project, which was launched on St Andrew's Day 2015, will enable Scotland's independent convenience store retailers and their customers to support the work of foodbanks in their communities; welcomes the news that it has been developed with support from what it considers a leading aid charity, Glasgow the Caring City; believes that the launch date resonates strongly with the work of the St Andrew’s Day Campaign Committee; understands that there are over 5,500 convenience stores in Scotland, which is more per head of population than the rest of the UK, and believes that SGF Food Aid has the potential to make a significant contribution to both food security and resilience across the country's communities.
