Highlands and Islands-based Winners at Green Energy Awards
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the winners at the Green Energy Awards; notes with appreciation what it sees as the strong showing from the winners from the Highlands and Islands, which included Point and Sandwick Power from the Isle of Lewis, the Beinn Ghrideag Wind Farm and Green Marine and Leask Marine Ltd; gives particular praise to Highland and Islands Enterprise (HIE) on winning the Judges Award in recognition of its contribution to green energy over the last 50 years; believes that HIE and its predecessor, the Highlands and Islands Development Board, have played an important role in supporting and developing renewable energy across the region, including leading on the establishment of the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney and playing a pivotal role in Wave Energy Scotland, and looks forward to the industry being given more support in the years to come.
