Congratulating Archie Darling
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates Archie Darling, who is from Connel in Argyll, on what it considers his over 40 years of outstanding and unique work as a timber contractor and woodcutter throughout the Highlands and west coast; understands that the highly-skilled and often very hazardous and isolated work carried out by Archie, which is mostly unseen by the general public, has been recognised by Forestry Commission Scotland and that it has always been of a consistent "gold star" standard; notes that a film of him forest clearing in his early days is held by the National Museum of Scotland, and understands that Archie is highly valued in Oban for his voluntary work with Oban FM and as a founder of, and a volunteer and trailblazer with, the walking football project.
