Christmas Lights Fundraiser
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the Wishaw family, Ian and Sharon Fleming and their daughters, Ellie and Hollie, on what it considers their successful Christmas light project to raise money for sick children in wards 19 and 20 at Wishaw General Hospital; applauds the family efforts, which involved hanging 10,000 lights outside their home over the Christmas period to attract donations from the community; understands that both daughters received surgery at the hospital and, due to the excellent care received, the family wanted to raise funds for the hospital; believes that it was first hoped that the funds would allow staff at the hospital to purchase toys for sick children during their stay, however donations exceeded initial expectations raising £1,050; understands that this will be the eighth year that the family have put on the display, and wishes them well in their future fundraising efforts.
