SSE Hydro, the World's Third-busiest Venue
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates the staff and management of the SSE Hydro on it being named the third-busiest venue in the world, behind the O2 in London and the Manchester Arena; understands that the Glasgow venue sold more than one million tickets in 2015, which was more than Madison Square Garden in New York and the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, and that the 130 performances helped contribute around £106 million to Scotland’s economy; believes that it also beat the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre to reach the top of the Billboard list of venues with a maximum capacity of 15,000, and sends its best wishes to all at the SSE Hydro for 2016 and future years.
