Scottish-Israeli Direct Flight

The motion

That the Parliament notes calls for Scottish airlines and airports to seriously consider establishing a direct service between Scotland and Israel to strengthen cultural, trade and tourism links between Scotland and the Middle East; notes that Scottish exports to the Middle East amount to £1.7 billion annually and that this figure has risen steadily in recent years; further notes that Brits visit Israel over 100,000 times a year and that tourism to Israel is similarly increasing; notes the view that there is therefore a market and a need to strengthen these ties by the creation of a direct Scottish-Israeli flight so the residents of the Scottish Borders and elsewhere in Scotland can fly directly to Israel, and asserts that such a route would benefit both economies and the wider Middle East by positively impacting on trade and tourism.
