The motion

That the Parliament welcomes the establishment of a new food production charity, Abundant Borders, which also aims to tackle food poverty; notes that the East Berwickshire-based charity is seeking to create a network of community food production and small-scale forest gardening to help alleviate food poverty, promote healthy eating and provide enterprise skills in the Scottish Borders; understands that it aims to take advantage of the considerable and varied food produce of the area; believes that around 40 people attended the recent launch of the charity at Eyemouth Harbour, at which they sampled homemade cakes and soup that was made from home-grown Borders’ vegetables; notes that the launch also saw 15 trainees signed up to permaculture courses that are being offered by the charity; praises everyone involved with Abundant Borders on their hard work so far, and wishes it well for the future.
