Attracting Cruise Ships to Aberdeen

Lodged by Ross Thomson Standard Motion 32 supporters

The motion

That the Parliament congratulates VisitAberdeenshire and Aberdeen Harbour’s mission of attracting more cruise ships to North East Scotland; recognises that Aberdeen Harbour is one of the busiest ports in the UK and in 2016 hosted over 8,000 vessels, but only 12 cruise ships; understands that the previous expansion of the harbour will accommodate easy dockings for ships and will allow for easy transportation of passengers to Aberdeen’s city centre, and wishes tourism officials luck at the Seatrade Cruise Global conference in Fort Lauderdale in week commencing 13 March 2017 as it considers that their success will boost the economy and tourism in the region.
