The motion

That the Parliament congratulates the Jim Clark Trust on organising a crowdfunding campaign for the new Jim Clark Museum, which raised more than £100,000 in public donations; understands that this, alongside private donations and a further £75,000 from other charitable trusts and foundations, means that it has almost raised the amount required to ensure that its plans for the museum stay on track; notes that it now plans to extend the rear of the building to display up to 10 additional racing cars; welcomes the commitment from Scottish Borders Council to part-fund the project and to apply for further funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund; warmly looks forward to the opening of the museum in 2018, which will also mark the 50th anniversary of Jim's tragic death, and believes that a museum dedicated to the late, great driver, will be a fantastic addition to Duns and the Scottish Borders and will have the potential to generate significant economic and tourism benefits to the area.
