The motion

That the Parliament commends the north east charity, Friends of Anchor, on the launch of its £2 million fundraising drive to contribute toward a new £32 million cancer and haematology centre at the Foresterhill Health Campus, The Anchor Centre; understands that a large group of volunteers from the cancer and haematology care and support charity dressed up in red and held a “takeover” of the Union Square Shopping Centre in Aberdeen; notes that activities included a silent disco, face painting, a sticker trail and a colouring competition; acknowledges that, alongside the fundraising fun, the charity also offered the public a look into the new centre that is scheduled to open its doors in 2021; believes that the multi-million-pound centre will be the first of its kind in Scotland and is estimated that it will be used by 65,000 patients a year; considers that this facility will be invaluable for those receiving treatment, and wishes the charity every success for its fundraising drive.
