The Flying Scotsman
The motion
That the Parliament welcomes the news that the world famous locomotive, the Flying Scotsman, is set to travel through Clackmannanshire again in 2019; acknowledges that there will be morning and afternoon runs on the Forth Circle in May; notes that the train will also travel over the Forth Bridge, onto the Fife Coast and Circle, then along to Culross, Kincardine, Alloa and Stirling; understands that the afternoon train is also scheduled to take in both Dalmeny and Inverkeithing; notes that the locomotive, which was the most powerful of its kind, was built in 1923 in Doncaster for the then newly-formed London and North Eastern Railway, and was due to be scrapped in the 1960s but was saved, and is now owned, by the National Railway Museum, and wishes the locomotive and all involved in its running the very best for a successful visit to Scotland.
