Balerno Cash for Scottish Poppy Appeal

The motion

That the Parliament thanks the people of Balerno for their outstanding efforts to raise money for the Scottish Poppy Appeal in November 2018; understands that, during the centenary commemorations of the 1918 Armistice, £5,572 was raised, compared with £3,275 the previous year; notes the efforts of volunteers working to raise money for the appeal, particularly those collecting donations, delivering poppies and collecting money from schools and shops, as well as selling poppy merchandise; recognises that Balerno Parish Church also made a contribution, and that similar initiatives were undertaken in nearby Currie and Juniper Green, and thanks the Balerno area organiser for the Scottish Poppy Appeal, Mike Latimer, for all the work that he has done in the role over the last 25 years.
