Kilimanjaro Charity Climb
The motion
That the Parliament congratulates staff from East Lothian Council on raising over £5,000 for Cancer Research UK by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; understands that the climb was the most recent effort in a series of fundraising challenges that began in 2012 following the death of the council worker, Vera Cameron; notes that, since 2012, almost £70,000 has been raised for charity through mountain climbing, swimming and biking challenges; acknowledges that, during the gruelling seven-day ascent of the 6,000-metre mountain, the climbers braved temperatures that ranged from 30°C to -15°C, and thanks the staff of East Lothian Council, as well as Vera’s husband and daughter, for their superb contribution to charity.
